We are delighted to share the news that The Warehouse @EYC is back!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our young people and their families for all the support they have given us over the past 6 months and of course for attending our virtual sessions. It has been wonderful to be able to connect with you throughout lockdown and we look forward to welcoming back all our members as we begin to re-introduce face-to-face contact.
As we have done throughout this pandemic we have consulted with governing bodies and have implemented the following measures in line with current Youth Work guidance.
Booking sessions
To ensure we comply with guidelines on group numbers we are advising all young people to pre-book a space on all our sessions including those taking place outdoors. The last thing we want to do is turn a young person away from an activity but if they have not pre-booked a space, they will not be permitted to take part.
If a young person wishes to speak with a youth worker we also advise that they message the team and arrangements will be made to allow this to happen in the safest possible way. All 1-2-1meetings will be either outdoors, over Zoom or by telephone. All social distancing and hygiene guidance will be adhered to.
2-meter distancing
We want to keep everyone safe during our group sessions. All activities will operate 2-meter social distancing. This applies to all young people, youth workers and volunteers. Close contact will be kept to a minimum and all safety protocols will be followed, including the use of PPE and enhanced hygiene.
Face masks/Face coverings
We are asking all our young people, staff and volunteers to wear face masks whenever they are within common areas. Masks and coverings can be removed when they are sitting or taking part in an outdoor activity.
If anyone has an exemption to wearing a face mask/covering could you please advise the youth team when booking a session.
Hand sanitising/washing
Hand sanitising stations are located throughout the building including entrances and exits. We are advising all our young people to wash/sanitise their hands as they enter and exit the café space, use the toilets and upon request.
Additional cleaning
The cleanliness of the building is always something we pride ourselves on. To correspond with guidance we are adding additional cleaning routines to the building and our sessions to ensure that our spaces are safe for all users.
Contract tracing
When a young person attends a session, they will be asked to provide contact information. We would like to assure our young people and their families that this information will be held securely, only be used if needed and will only be retained for as long as it is needed.
If your young person is asked to self-isolate and you believe they have attended one of our sessions, please let the team know as soon as possible.
We understand that these measures may seem daunting to our young people but we hope that by highlighting these measures they will continue to see the café as their safe space. If anyone has anything that they would like to discuss with the team we are always available for a chat.
Remember to stay safe and look after each other!
The Youth Team
